Diabetes in children consists of two types, namely type 1 and type 2. In type 1 diabetes the main cause is the production of insulin which is damaged so that it disrupts the immune system, one of the causes is genes from the parents while in type 2 diabetes is caused by a lifestyle unhealthy, causing obesity. What parents should pay attention to is that the early symptoms of diabetes are very difficult to distinguish from the normal condition of the child, is it true that one of them is a child aged 3-4 years who is still wet, even urinating more frequently? The initial symptom that parents can watch out for is when a child at the age of 3-4 years old becomes wet, even the frequency of urinating frequently. This can be suspected as a sign of diabetes, you should check with your doctor especially if you have a family history of diabetes.
Some other symptoms that indicate your child has diabetes:
1. Often feel thirsty
Excess sugar in the blood will cause fluid in the body to lose, this will cause thirst in children more often. So that the habit of urinating becomes more frequent, even at the age of 3-4 years old children often still have the habit of bedwetting.
2. Experiencing hunger
Children with diabetes will be associated with insulin problems. Due to problems with insulin in the blood, it causes blood sugar to be inhibited from reaching the body’s cells so that the muscles do not get energy and cause children to experience hunger frequently.
3. Extreme weight loss
Even though children often eat, they actually experience problems with body weight, including an extreme decrease. This is because the supply of fat and muscle tissue will shrink without fitting in energy and sugar.
4. Children get angry easily
Children who experience signs of diabetes include experiencing an unstable mood, one of which is often irritable and angry. Therefore, children will feel discomfort in interacting with their friends.
5. Often experience fatigue
In normal circumstances, children have the fitness to carry out activities in their environment. With the exception of children who have diabetes, the signs are that they are often tired and not enthusiastic about doing activities.
6. Health conditions
If the blood sugar is high, it will lose fluid in the lens of the eye which causes the eye’s ability to decrease, becoming unclear. As for girls who have type 1 diabetes, it is usually marked by a fungal infection of the genitals, one of which is caused by a fungus.
