The process of giving birth is a very valuable moment for a family, especially for mothers and their children.
As we know, in undergoing the birth process, a mother has 2 options that can be chosen to give birth to the child. This choice is normal and natural, there is also a second option, namely by performing a surgical procedure or what is familiar to the ear with the term caesarean section.
So do each of these methods have any side effects on child development? There are some who say that babies born using normal birth have a better immune system than those born by caesarean section. One reason that has been widely cited is because, children who are born normally have a chance of contracting the good bacteria when they pass through the birth canal.
In contrast to babies born by caesarean section. Babies who are born by caesarean section are considered to be born sterile, so they do not have the opportunity to come into contact with bacteria. This is what affects the formation of immunity. Therefore, babies born by caesarean section have a tendency to develop infectious diseases, asthma and many others.
But is this really true? It turns out that a number of studies conducted by the School of Nursing at La Trobe University in Melbourne show that there is no direct link between the mode of birth and the health risks it had as a child. The study was conducted by involving approximately 5000 children to be observed.
Elizabeth Westrupp, who is one of the researchers, revealed that many other factors influence the health problems that children have. Westrupp himself thought that a cesarean delivery would affect the health of the children, but in fact the problem was more related to breastfeeding and the process of breastfeeding.
So according to him, babies with a cesarean delivery process but with good breastfeeding conditions and adequate nutrition, can have health and well-being that are no different from children who are born normally. Because breast milk that is given exclusively to children will affect the formation of immunity.
Dr Aaron Caughey, head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, said that having a mother having a C-section does not mean she has to face medical problems and long-term health problems. The caesarean procedure itself does not make babies born have these problems, after all this condition will not be carried out if there are no certain indications.
Caughey is even more worried about the condition of the mother who underwent a caesarean section. He explained that the caesarean section itself could cause problems for the mother, because the holes were made during the process. He emphasized that if possible when carrying out the procedure there was damage to organs, bleeding, and infection problems that were dangerous to the mother’s condition.
So, by looking at these conditions, Caughey would rather recommend mothers to carry out and carry out labor procedures normally. With normal delivery procedures, mothers do not have to worry about the risks that have been previously stated above. Even so, it is still important to see the extent of the need. A mother is more advised to carry out a caesarean section during the delivery process if there are dangerous indications such as the condition of the breech baby, the condition of the baby’s heart and also other disturbing problems. So, please communicate which procedure you should take when you are about to give birth.
That is the truth behind the myth of caesarean birth which affects his health condition. What do you think about this? Do you agree? Please share this article with your friends or friends on social media. Press the share button on this page!
