As reported by The Examiner, that the source of iodine can be obtained from breast milk. But surprising again, a recent research study found that the levels of iodine needed by babies can also be obtained from formula milk and have good nutritional content as iodine in mother’s milk. Iodine is also considered to play an important role in newborns because it is considered important for the thyroid hormone. These nutrients also play an active role in infant development, such as preventing cretinism in babies or growth disorders and mental disabilities and preventing mental retardation in newborns.
Mental retardation is the condition of a baby before the age of 18 months, characterized by low intelligence of the child and difficulty adapting to its environment in everyday life. Mental retardation refers to a group of disorders that occur in intellectual function and deficits in your child’s adaptive abilities that occur before he reaches adulthood. But even so, the researchers emphasized that breastfeeding the baby directly by giving breast milk would be better than just giving formula milk for the little one. Because by breastfeeding directly, there will be physical and mental interactions between the mother and the baby that are able to bond the souls together.
