Effective Ways to Overcome Dry and Chapped Lips

Unlike the skin on other parts of the body, the skin on the lips does not have oil glands. For this reason, the lips dry more easily and, worse, they can cause chapped. The loss of moisture on the skin of the lips can cause lips to become dry and chapped. This condition can occur as a result of several factors such as excessive sun exposure, lip licking habits and the air factor that is too dry. In addition, dehydration is also a major factor in the condition of dry lips until chapped occurs. When this condition strikes, we can see that there are red cracks on the lips that cause a pain that is so painful that it can even bleed.

So how do you fix it? When dry and chapped lips attack, you can do the effective methods below.

1. Meet Nutritional Needs

One of the other triggers that can cause dry and chapped lips is a lack of nutritional B vitamins, iron or lack of essential fatty acids. For that, fulfilling nutritional needs is an effective way to overcome this problem. You can fulfill these nutritional needs by consuming foods that contain the following nutrients or by taking a vitamin / mineral supplement. But remember, before doing it, it is better if you first consult with a doctor.

2. Avoid the habit of licking lips

Most people do the wrong way by wetting their lips with saliva when their lips feel dry, this may be instinctive. But you know, saliva or saliva will evaporate quickly which will actually leave your lips drier than the previous condition and will actually aggravate chapped lips.

3. Make sure the body is not deficient in fluids

Dehydration or lack of fluids is one of the causes of dry lips, therefore, make sure that the body does not lack fluids by meeting these fluid needs. To be able to meet the needs of fluids in the body, drink water regularly. Even more so if you sweat a lot or when the weather is hot.

4. Avoid the habit of biting lips

Apart from being a bad habit, biting the lips actually has a negative impact on the lips, including it can cause trauma to the lips and damage the protective lining of the lips, as a result it can cause chapped and injured lips.

5. Do not breathe through your mouth too often

Breathing through the mouth will speed up drying of the lips, and to make matters worse, it can cause chapped lips, causing red cracks. For that, as much as possible breathe through your nose.

6. Consumption of Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vitamins contain lots of vitamins and minerals needed to make lips healthy from within. For that, as much as possible consume vegetables and fruit by including this menu in daily consumption foods.

7. Be careful choosing lipstick

You should monitor the use of lip cosmetics such as lipstick. Some women have lips that are more sensitive. Sometimes the choice of lipstick that is not suitable will result in lip complaints, one of which is dry and chapped lips. For that, you should make sure if you use lipstick or cosmetic products that have registered licenses. If the lips feel hot and sore when using lipstick, you should remove them and stop using them.

8. Use Lip Balm

One of the alternative ways to protect lips from hot weather, is by applying lip balm. Besides being able to prevent, the use of lip balm can also treat dry and chapped lips.

9. Use Honey

The natural way to deal with dry and chapped lips is to apply honey as a natural lip moisturizer. Apart from that, honey has antibacterial properties which can eliminate germs and bacteria that cause lip complaints. In order for the recovery process to be faster, regularly rub honey on your lips 3 times a day.

10. Consumption of green vegetables, various seeds, tomatoes and carrots

The content of Vitamin A in vegetables, especially carrots, will help the process of restoring skin damaged by dry and chapped lips.

Here are some ways to prevent and treat chapped lips. Healthy, soft and rosy lips are a dream for anyone. For that, preventing and overcoming complaints on the lips is an important way for you to do. However, if everything has been done and the lips do not heal, it is better to get medical attention from a doctor immediately so that the complaint can be resolved immediately.
