An optimistic attitude can have many benefits. Optimists are known to have better stress control skills than their less optimistic peers. So that, optimists will avoid depression and tormenting stress.
So, then how do you cultivate an optimistic attitude in children so that they avoid depression?
1. Train Children to Deal with Situations where There is “Risk and Failure” in Them.
To foster an optimistic attitude in children, parents need to train children to deal with various situations and conditions in which there are “risks and failures”. Thus, children who are accustomed to being trained in these conditions will give birth to a better mental child and not easily give up when faced with a problem. When children are faced with risky conditions, parents need to encourage their children to consider the risks and failures that may occur as challenges that must be conquered and overcome or avoided. In addition, children who are trained in these conditions will give birth to children who are more mature mentally and make their souls less vulnerable so that children will not easily experience depression when they have to be faced with a reality that is not what they expected.
2.Don’t Give Children a ‘Bad Image’
Parents should not give a bad image to children, such as by giving certain names to children. Because consciously or not, children will absorb the image given by the parents. This image will stick in the child to become an identity and character for the child. Do you know that the negative image you give to the child will continue to stick and be remembered by the child, which will prevent the child from doing all the things that make them insecure. For example, when you give a child the image of ‘the coward’, whether you realize it or not, this will be absorbed by the child and make them have limits to do everything due to the image that the mother gives.
3. Help Children To Achieve Success
Even though it provides challenges so that children can feel the risks and failures of what they do, it is something that must be done. However, helping children to achieve success is an important role that parents must play. Your help here will certainly lead to more support and encouragement for children to achieve children’s dreams and achieve success. So that the child will become more confident in the belief in the dream he has been dreaming of. You can do support or encouragement to reach his success by giving small awards when the child is successful with what he is doing. Thus the child will be motivated to do more and in the end their dreams will be achieved.
Those are some ways to grow optimistic in children. We certainly know that life is not always beautiful. Challenges and trials and problems often come and go. And the best attitude in dealing with various problems and difficulties in life is with an attitude of optimism.
