Ramadan fasting is the perfect time to improve the quality of worship.
In this fasting month, many people choose to focus more on their religion in order to change themselves to become better people. Some people are even willing to take time off during the first and last few weeks of the fasting month in order to maintain the smooth running of their worship.
Well, applying worship and improving it certainly doesn’t hurt to be applied to your little one. Even though they are still in the learning stage of fasting, this does not mean that mothers are free from the task of guiding and teaching their little ones the meaning of fasting and other worship to be taught.
This month that is full of blessings, there is nothing wrong with teaching and introducing your baby to a series of worship activities to complement his Ramadan worship. Thus it is hoped that this worship activity will be carried out into a habit that he applies until he grows up.
Starting from introducing your child to the activities of the Koran, tadarusan, doing alms, not talking about other people, not fighting, not talking harshly and so on. This time can also be used as a place to improve the character of the baby. But of course it is not only done in the month of fasting, but it is also important to teach some of these things every day.
Now, if other people are competing in teaching kindness and guiding their children to always increase their worship in this graceful month. Some have even damaged Ramadan activities with a series of bad habits that are often repeated during the fasting month.
Whether it is done intentionally or accidentally, it will be a tendency children in imitating them, they can interpret the habit as something that is allowed and recommended to do.
Even though this habit really brings great harm to the body and in the end makes the fast that is carried out not optimal and feeling weak and helpless is more likely to be felt.
There are quite a number of bad habits that are carried out during the month of Ramadan that the baby is not aware of, this activity is also followed by the baby. Thus when you do these activities it means that you teach your little one to do the same thing. As a result, as long as fasting is not healthy, the body feels uncomfortable.
So what are some bad habits that should be avoided from your little one so that they are not done or imitated? Let’s look at a few things below.
Bad habits that should not be implemented in children during the fasting month
1. Skipping the Sahur meal
Sahur worship activities carried out at dawn often make it difficult for the body to adjust its biological clock to the time of dawn. As a result, often at the beginning of fasting, not a few of them experience waking up late for the meal. Or some even skip this activity because they are not used to getting up in the early morning.
Sahur is an important activity to do during Ramadan fasting. Even though it is included in one of the sunnahs that can be done or not, it’s okay, but still this one activity is a series of worship that is important to do. This is because sahur is a time for you to be able to supply enough energy so that your body is ready and strong to withstand the fast that will be carried out for almost 14 hours.
Unfortunately, not a few parents feel sleepy or lazy to cook and end up skipping their meal. Especially for children, this activity should not be missed so that their bodies become fresher while carrying out their fasting services.
2. Eat lots of food when breaking the fast
Because holding back hunger and thirst during fasting for half a full day makes hunger and thirst often inevitable. In the end, this unconsciously makes it difficult for us to control our appetite at breaking the fast by eating all kinds of food that occur at the dinner table until our stomach feels full.
However, habits like this should not be done especially in front of your little one because in fact consuming all kinds of food in large quantities at one time will not be good for health.
During the day, our digestive system is resting so consuming lots of food at once will make digestion work hard but slowly. As a result, a disease like this might be felt.
Well, if this happens to your little one then they will likely be too tired to withstand this impact and in turn may make them fussy. In addition, being full will probably make your little one lazy to perform the best prayers.
For that, you should eat a little at a time and chew slowly. It takes about 7 minutes for the brain to send a full signal to the body until you notice it. For that, eat according to your needs because anything that is excessive is not good.
3. Consume Foods High in Fat and Calories
When breaking the fast after enduring hunger and thirst for a day, it feels like you will really enjoy pampering your tongue with your favorite foods. Especially with crunchy foods such as fried foods or foods with high fat and calorie content such as foot soup, burgers or consuming other foods.
However, applying this habit to your little one and all family members is not a good thing because this will probably cause stomach ulcers in your little one and increase cholesterol levels for adults.
4. Consuming Only Small Fruits and Vegetables
Children need to get healthy food intake to be able to perform fasting in a fresher way. Healthy food intake will provide a number of nutrients and nutrients the body needs to be able to carry out its functions better, especially during fasting.
Consuming a small amount of vegetables and fruit will not fulfill your nutritional and nutritional needs properly. As a result, if this happens, your little one will look weak and lethargic while fasting. For that, you should support the food menu during fasting by presenting fruits and vegetables as well as healthy food for the baby so that the fast can be carried out smoothly.
5. Less Drinking
During fasting the body does not get any fluids for nearly 14 hours. When the body doesn’t get enough fluids, what happens is dehydration. Meanwhile, even though fasting, the body is still required to carry out activities as usual without the intake of food and drink.
Keep in mind, the body that does a lot of activity will make a lot of electrolyte fluid released through sweat. That is why when fasting, fluid intake is needed by the body.
Avoid applying less drinking habits to your baby. Or let them consume only a little liquid. Try to keep your baby’s need for 8 glasses of fluids per day. There is no need to drink as many as 8 glasses of water at the same time. The distribution of the consumption of this drink can be arranged and consumed when breaking the fast, before going to bed and most importantly at dawn.
Your baby’s body that gets enough nutrients, nutrients and fluids will make the fast he is living fresher and smoother.
