Why Do Babies Refuse Breastmilk?

Your baby may refuse to accept breast milk for various reasons, including your baby’s health. Babies who are experiencing thrush can be a reason to refuse breast milk. You can tell that your baby is having thrush, because usually you also experience pain in the nipples during and after breastfeeding. In certain conditions, babies refuse breast milk because the breastfeeding position is not right, which makes it uncomfortable. Some cases of babies only like milk that comes from the left breast, generally it occurs because of the improper holding method so that the possibility that when your baby is given the right breast will reject or vomit. For you, you can find a comfortable position by making the baby tilted to the right so that the end of the baby’s stomach will connect with the esophagus facing upwards to facilitate acceptance of breast milk. Basically, the baby does not completely refuse breastfeeding but is fussy about first feeding, your baby needs a relaxed atmosphere to get breast milk. Therefore, there are various ways you can do it by playing soothing music, gently weigh your baby so that your baby can receive breastfeeding.

Refusal of breast milk can occur according to the baby’s growth, especially for babies who have received complementary foods (MPASI) or the growth of baby teeth. Discomfort can occur due to the condition of the body so that it refuses breastfeeding, for example you have not changed the diaper which is unable to work optimally to absorb urine and feces or your baby is in a hot room. Research has found that breast milk rejection by babies can occur due to frequent use of a pacifier so that your baby needs to adjust to your milk flow. The flow of breast milk that is too fast is not liked by your baby so that some of your conditions are very supportive for breastfeeding, keep away from depressed thoughts, the nutrients you get from your diet, hormonal changes especially if you have experienced it. menstrual cycle there are several reasons for example the tension you experience before menstruation. For those of you who experience breast milk rejection by babies, you should not easily give up on breastfeeding. The content of breast milk has antibodies that are needed for the health of the baby as well as for you to reduce the risk breast cancer.
