Definition of Recurrent Miscarriage

Miscarriage is the cessation of spontaneous fetal growth and development at an early age, that is, under 20 weeks of gestation. Miscarriage can occur repeatedly (more than once) occurs in about 20% of women who occur at 13 weeks of gestation. The category for recurrent miscarriage is when it occurs when pregnant women stop developing their fetus in the first trimester three times in a row.

Recurrent miscarriage will be different from miscarriage that only occurs in women and then in the second pregnancy can maintain and maintain the fetus. Although the occurrence of recurrent miscarriage only occurs in 1% of women, proper treatment is carried out by direct care from an obstetrician. Thus, those of you who have had a miscarriage should identify the cause of the miscarriage so that it can prevent recurrent miscarriage.

Factors that cause recurrent miscarriage

Recurrent miscarriage can be a serious problem, so it is important to know the physical and psychological factors that cause more than two consecutive miscarriages:

1. Blood Clotting

Recurrent miscarriages can be caused by the Anti-Cardiolipin Antibody (ACA), which is where the blood clots in pregnant women affect the supply of nutrients and oxygen to the fetus through the placenta. With this blood clotting can result in the fetus not developing even in more chronic conditions the fetus dies in the womb. In normal conditions, there is an immune system to function in warding off substances that are considered dangerous, whereas for people with ACA, the body will attack anticardiolipins which it considers enemies even though it is part of the body’s membrane that will make the blood thick.

ACA suffered by pregnant women is what causes fetal death at 10 weeks of gestation. So when planning a pregnancy it is recommended to know the ACA levels in the body while pregnant women anticipate the high risk of ACA with medical treatment, especially with oral snacks such as administration of drugs or by injection that can help to thin the blood.

2. Too Fertile Uterus

Recurrent miscarriages can be caused by repeated miscarriages so that the embryo attachments of low quality result in the embryo not developing and causing miscarriage. As research in the UK states that recurrent miscarriage is because the uterus can accept any type of embryo, even though the embryo cannot hold or implant. Although this research was conducted on six pregnant women who have fertility rate normal and six women who had recurrent miscarriages but this theory should be re-examined with regard to at least a detectable or altered rate of embryonic acceptance of the uterus.

3. Weak Mouth Uterus

Furthermore, the cause of recurrent miscarriage is a weak cervix that opens in the middle of pregnancy due to the inability to withstand the growing pressure of the fetus. Women who have a weak cervix have a medical history, one of which is trauma to the cervix due to surgery on the cervix or dilation.

The opening of the cervix during pregnancy is marked by blood spots, bleeding in the female area so that often women who experience cervical abnormalities will experience weight in the abdomen. The right medical action to maintain a pregnancy until 37-38 weeks of gestation is consultation and examination with a doctor. This is to determine whether the main cause of recurrent miscarriage is due to cervical abnormalities or other causes.

4. Diseases that interfere with fetal development

Recurrent miscarriages can be caused by thyroid problems or certain diseases such as disorders that cause the intestines to be unable to absorb nutrients and polycystic ovary syndrome which causes recurrent miscarriages. So that for prevention, blood tests are needed. Blood tests are aimed at finding out the immune system in receiving or rejecting canine or other blood disorders. Meanwhile, for a biopsy examination of the uterine lining, it is necessary to examine the progesterone levels especially in confirming the embryo after ovulation.

5. Mental Pressure

Miscarriage can also be caused due to mental stress such as excessive concern for your health and the fetus during pregnancy, then financial stress or due to single parenthood. This will affect fetal development so that it can cause miscarriage, especially if the mother has a previous history of miscarriage.

Although until now it has not been determined the main cause of recurrent miscarriage, to reduce physical and psychological factors, you should prepare before pregnancy, start mental readiness and also. pregnancy test.
