The problems that often occur in new mothers after giving birth are problems related to the delivery process, then activities related to breastfeeding and the last is the problem of childbirth. At the time of being a new mother, she often experiences tremendous fatigue. This is natural to experience, but if it continues it will affect caring for your child. The discomfort from prolonged fatigue will make it difficult for you to adapt to raising your baby.
Fatigue in new mothers can be caused due to inadequate nighttime rest, especially for new mothers who have to be able to adapt to their little habit of drinking milk and waking up at night. Furthermore, fatigue can occur due to an underactive thyroid, known as hypothyroidism. The function of the thyroid hormone is to regulate the rate of metabolism. This condition causes your metabolism to slow down so you often feel tired.
Finally, the cause of fatigue is an allergy to certain foods, such as a snack intolerance that makes you often sleepy, this evidence shows that food intolerance is the cause of fatigue so that it is an early warning to the body that food intolerance is happening. For fatigue that occurs you should avoid foods that feel sleepy within 10-30 minutes after eating them. Fatigue after childbirth makes it difficult for you to adapt and becomes uncomfortable so you can reduce it by making these efforts.
The following is in overcoming fatigue after childbirth:
1. Steal time between baby breaks
Make the best use of time when you become a new mother, you can steal your baby’s rest time during the day with resting together then at night you can ask your husband for help at night when your baby wakes up. That way your role and also your husband can be divided into good duties.
2. Get quality sleep
Try to get quality sleep when your baby is asleep at night, you can get used to using a light sleep when the baby is asleep so that your baby can get used to distinguishing between day and night and have a proper sleep schedule so it doesn’t interfere with prolonged sleep times.
3. Make time for breakfast
Usually new mothers often leave breakfast for several reasons including being busy taking care of their children in the morning even though breakfast is the most important habit that new mothers must do in maintaining nutritional intake. Complete sufficient carbs and protein and vitamins that can support you in doing activities so that you don’t get tired.
4. Expand Fluid
Fatigue can also be caused by a lack of fluid intake so that you quickly become lethargic. If fatigue is caused due to lack of fluids, it is usually indicated by changes in urine so it is best to meet the daily fluid needs of eight glasses per day.
