Even though until now learning to read, write and count is still a matter of debate if it is taught too early, especially at toddler age, if you can introduce it in a fun way it will become a good habit for your child later. It is better if you do not impose the abilities of your child at the age of toddlers before toddlers because at this age it is more emphasized to introduce that learning numbers and letters is fun so that it doesn’t leave depression in your child.
Here are some ways you can introduce numbers and letters in a fun way to toddlers:
1. Doing Finger Games
The way to train your child to learn to recognize numbers and letters can be done with games. You can invite to do finger games, first do the fingers in front of your child’s lower palm position as well as you then start learning to count from 0 to 10 for introductions first. Invite your child to point one by one from the thumb to the little finger while saying the numbers. Meanwhile, to invite to play letters, you can play a similar game, namely starting to say letters and when it ends up to a certain letter, for example the letter L, you can name the names of vegetables such as Pumpkin, Radish etc.
2. Use cardboard on the wall
You can use cardboard taped to the wall then you can write big letters and ask your child to imitate the example. At first, maybe your child can write in bad writing, but you should give praise or motivation to encourage your child’s writing desire. Thus your child will learn to practice so that repeatedly memorize letters or numbers and be able to write them well.
3. Cards From Cartoon Paper
You can randomly write letters or numbers on the side of the cartoon paper, then introduce the cards one by one to your child. In a limited number introduce letters, for example you write A, B, C, D each on 6 cards. How to play the first time you can take one letter, for example A. After that you can ask your child to collect the letter A. This game helps your child to recognize letters easily.
